AEWC Test Stand Expansion
Scope of Work
Cianbro is managing the construction of an 18,388 sf high bay expansion to the existing AEWC facility. The project includes a three story 6,866 sf portion for a lab and offices, and 11,522 sf for a high bay test area which will include a heavily reinforced concrete reaction structure (test stand) and a heavily reinforced concrete floor slab (strong floor) for research testing. In addition, the installation of a new gravel entrance/delivery drive and surrounding landscaping.
Project Details
Construction of the 1,650 cy Concrete Test Stand
Placement of east foundation walls with typical spread footings; rebar and slab on grade
Placement of a slab on grade “Reaction Slab” designed for future lab testing equipment
Erection of a Pre-Engineered Metal Building
Placement of a 35 Ton Embedded Steel Plate in the face of the Test Stand for mounting windmill blades
All other related work for a complete building package
Unique Challenge
Test stand deep excavation and ledge removal will be a challenge along with the tight schedule.
