Scope of Work
Cianbro constructed a 577 space, 330 ft by 180 ft parking garage on the Eastern Maine Medical Center Campus.

Project Details
  • Excavated an existing parking lot adjacent to the hospital—blasted rock, removed overburden material, and placed crushed stone for the new subgrade
  • Placed bearing pile and foundations on ledge for the three-level parking garage
  • Drove over 650 tons of flat permanent sheet pile to remove the lateral load on the garage resulting in a free-standing retaining wall
  • Erected over 7,200 tons of precast concrete
  • Installed four stair towers, an elevator tower, electrical room, and maintenance storage room

“I don’t think anyone else could have pulled it off. Your administrative team has been exceptional—and most important, your commitment to safety shows how much you care for the well being of your skilled coworkers.”
Don Fletcher, Director of Facilities

Unique Challenge

The Cianbro team carefully organized construction activities to allow emergency ambulance access to the hospital at all times. Heavy pedestrian traffic also placed additional safety considerations on Cianbro, which were met without incident.
