Scope of Work
Cianbro reconstructed Berths 5 & 6 at Dundalk Marine Terminal.

Project Details
  • Demolished and removed 1,313 lf of pile-supported wharf including pavement, railroad tracks, crane rails, wharf appurtenances, timber and concrete relieving platforms, wood sheet piles, and 3,600 timber, concrete, and steel shell pipes
  • Excavated and stockpiled 5,500 cy of ballast fill
  • Removed existing utilities and provided temporary drainage and water 
  • Removed and disposed of one container crane at nearby Seagirt Marine Terminal
  • Constructed 1,327 lf of new wharf including 503 lf of steel master pile bulkhead retained by 106 grouted soil anchors and 761 lf of steel sheetpile bulkhead
  • Dredged 38,000 cy of bottom material in the berthing area
  • Drive 832, 24-inch and 295, 20-inch prestressed concrete piles 
  • Placed 65,000 sf of precast concrete deck slabs
  • Placed 8,500 cy of ballast fill
  • Installed 2,200 lf of crane rail and 1,375 lf of track rod
  • Performed associated utility and electrical work
  • Installed fender system and pavement
  

Unique Challenge



Using it’s extensive experience in marine construction, the Cianbro team performed this project at an operating, high-traffic, marine terminal while maintaining and protecting traffic at all times.
