Thames Street Bulkhead & Pier Reconstruction



Scope of Work 
Cianbro reconstructed the Bulkhead, Pier, and the Marine Railway including installation of miscellaneous utilities at the Living Classrooms Foundation on Thames Street. 

Project Details
  • Demolished the existing pier and bulkhead
  • Drove 9,826 lf of 14 inch square pre-stressed concrete pile
  • Drove 17,602 sf of sheet pile
  • Placed 1,150 cy of concrete for the promenade and pier structures 
  • Installed a marine railway and timber pile bents
  • Installed 10,336 sf of timber decking
  • Installed a fender system
  • Installed 220 lf of reinforced concrete pipe
  • Installed 475 lf of ductile iron pipe and various copper pipe

Unique Challenge



Due to the historical significance of the site, an Archeologist was utilized to observe and investigate unanticipated archeological finds encountered during any excavation activities.
