Scope of Work
Cianbro was selected from a field of 60 module facilities from around the world to construct and fabricate modules for the Motiva Refinery at Cianbro’s NEW deep water Eastern Manufacturing Facility, located in Brewer, Maine. As part of the project, Cianbro redeveloped a brownfield industrial site to provide a state-of-the-art facility with roll on/roll off deepwater access.  Working closely with local, state, and federal environmental agencies, Cianbro designed, permitted and constructed the module facility in 12 months. Heavy investments in labor-reducing and quality enhancing processes, such as automatic welding and cloud point laser scanning, interfaced with 3D modeling, ensure this facility’s efficiencies.  Coordination with a world-wide network of material providers, related web based communications and project controls, guarantee on time delivery of critical components.  High quality standards including Module-to-Module interface alignment and providing completely tested systems ensure a World Class facility start-up time of less than 30 days for this epic project in Port Arthur, Texas. The modules were barged to Port Arthur, Texas in the Gulf of Mexico as part of the construction of the Motiva Enterprises, LLC, 325,000 barrel-per-day (b/d) expansion project, making it the largest Refinery in North America. 

Project Details
Constructed and fabricated 51 modules, ranging in size from 40 ft wide x 60 ft tall x 120 ft long, with the heaviest weighing 700 tons. Total Quantities for the 51 modules included: 9,000 tons of steel, 145,000 lf of pipe fabrication, 190,000 lf of pipe installation, 35,000 lf of cable tray, 25,000 lf of conduit, and 300 cy of concrete.
