Scope of Work
Cianbro designed, procured, and constructed a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation system, complete with all necessary equipment, facilities and operation instruction for Eastern Maine Medical Center. 

Project Details

• Assisted client with application to the Department of Energy resulting in a $3 Million award to EMMC
• Managed the design for all aspects of the project
• Procured all major pieces of equipment for EMMC
• Performed site work
• Constructed a 92 ft x 36 ft concrete and structural steel building to house the turbine generator and heat recovery steam generator, including insulation, siding, and roof
• Placed a concrete foundation and steel support structure for the two cell cooling tower
• Drove 1,500 lf of sheet pile to shore up the sloping terrain
• Installed a 4.6MW turbine generator, a 24,000 lb/hour heat recovery steam generator, a 500 ton chiller, and a two cell cooling tower 
• Installed a turbine exhaust gas diverter skid
• Installed a 95 ft tall steel stack
• Installed the air compressor, receiver and dryer systems
• Installed all emergency power equipment and alternate power feeds
• Relocated a low pressure natural gas metering station
• Relocated the emergency generator diesel fuel storage tank 
• Performed all electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation fit-outs for all equipment 
• Coordinated all startup and testing operations
