Pine Tree Landfill Gas-To-Energy Project
Scope of Work
Cianbro was responsible for design and construction of a 3.0 MW landfill gas-to-energy power plant.
Project Details
Constructed concrete foundations, piers, and pads
Managed the erection of two pre-engineered metal buildings
Erected 30 tons of miscellaneous steel
Managed the installation of 2,000 lf underground HDPE landfill gas and leachate lines
Fabricated and installed 3,000 lf of carbon and stainless pipe
Constructed 1,000 lf of 15 kV power line
Installed 8,500 lf of underground PVC conduit
Pulled and terminated 75,000 lf of power and control cables
Installed gas scrubbing and conditioning systems
Installed three 1.0 MW GE Jenbacher engine/generator sets
Performed system check-out
Managed plant start-up
Provided check-out and start-up turn over documents
Installed electrical power, control, and instrumentation equipment
This was the first landfill gas-to-energy project constructed in the State of Maine
The gas scrubbing technology installed on this project represented the first application of this technology in the United States.
Unique Challenge
Cianbro separated the blower/flare assembly so the blowers would be upstream of the scrubber.
