Scope of Work
Cianbro rehabilitated five bridges and performed all site and approach work along one mile of I-295 at the 11th Street interchange.

Project Details
  • Constructed and subsequently removed two temporary bridges  (800 lf and 1100 lf), requiring the installation and removal of  1,612 tons and 1,788 tons of structural steel, respectively, and all related approach work
  • Demolished, rebuilt, and restored traffic on the two associated permanent bridges—through two to five phases of traffic
  • Demolished and rebuilt three other bridges (80 lf, 160 lf, and 180 lf)
  • Drove 25,000 lf of steel H-pile
  • Installed 1,030,000 lbs of reinforcing steel
  • Placed 2,785 cy of concrete piers, abutments, walls, and deck
  • Removed, refurbished, painted, and replaced over 1,000,000 lbs of permanent steel bridge girders
  • Milled and resurfaced permanent and temporary bridges with 3,000 tons of asphalt
  • Placed 2,500 tons of roadway asphalt and 5,000 cy of roadway concrete
  • Installed guardrails, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
  • Installed electrical and traffic measuring upgrades

Unique Challenge



The Cianbro team successfully completed rigging challenges that included night time erection of all steel bridge girders—weighing up to 29,000 lbs each—in 10-minute lane-closure windows while managing 75,000 vehicle per day work zone traffic as well as rail traffic under three of the bridges.
