Patapsco Sewage Pumping Station Improvements
Scope of Work
Cianbro modernized an existing Sewage pumping station facility serving the Baltimore suburbs, to augment the flow feeding Baltimore’s water treatment facility to meet the demands of the growing community in Halethorpe, Maryland.
Project Details
Provided demolition of all the mechanical and electrical equipment within the present structure.
Provided by-pass pumping and other flow diversion methods to allow for comprehensive demo and rehabilitation of the existing station.
Installed four 1000 hp motors, pumps and associated equipment to supply 80 MGD flow from the station.
Unique Challenge
Team members worked 12-14 hour days to return the pumping station to operating condition. It was challenging to complete the project on schedule while providing service to the community and preserving the project site which was located adjacent to the Patapsco River. As of June 14th 2010 the Pumping Station is online and operating under the automated controls.
