Raven Farm 345 kV Site and Substation Construction

Scope of Work

Cianbro performed all site development and substation construction, including managing all engineering, procurement and construction (civil, mechanical and electrical work) necessary for the EPC contract for a new 16 acre, 345 kV substation, as part of Central Maine Power’s Maine Power Reliability Program (MPRP).

Project Details

  • Stripped 7,412 cubic yards of topsoil
  • Removed 106,292 cubic yards of rock
  • Cut 43,699 cubic yards of material
  • Imported 65,175 cubic yards of material
  • Installed 141 foundations
  • Installed conduit and grounding
  • Erected 118 steel structures
  • Constructed a 90 feet by 40 feet control house and installed / outfitted all AC/DC equipment, cable tray, lighting, control cabinets, wiring, and terminations
  • Installed 345 kV yard equipment, including 4 circuit breakers, 14 disconnect switches, CCVT’s, lightning arresters, insulators, and other miscellaneous equipment
  • Fabricated and installed 3,100 linear feet of aluminum bus
  • Fabricated and installed 5,600 linear feet of flex taps
  • Pulled and terminated 39,500 linear feet of control and power cable
  • Installed all fiber optic cables
