Scope of Work

Cianbro rebuilt approximately 10.3 miles of the existing South Manheim to West Hempfield #3 69kV single circuit line, on wood structures, with a new 69kV double circuit line mounted on steel poles.

Project Details

  • Part 1 – Fuller Tap to South Manheim, Substructures 79A-89B, 1 mile
    • Removed 10 structures and associated line hardware
    • Installed 13 foundations and 13 custom designed poles
  • Part 2 – Landisville Taps to Fuller Tap, Structures 40-79A, 4.6 miles
    • Removed 37 structures and associated line hardware
    • Installed 10 foundations and 38 custom designed steel poles
  • Part 3 – Mt. Joy Taps to Landisville Taps, Structures 24A-39, 2 miles
    • Removed 19 structures and associated line hardware
    • Installed 4 foundations and 13 custom designed steel poles
  • Part 4 – Donegal Substation to Mt. Joy Taps, Structures 1A-23
    • Removed 28 structures and associated line hardware
    • Installed 12 foundations and 25 custom designed steel poles
  • Part 5 – Miscellaneous Work
    • Constructed portions of Structure 89A
    • Re-terminated lines at the South Manheim Substation
    • Installed switch structures West of Landisville

Lean, Innovative, and Unique Project Solutions

The project was completed in phases based on scheduled outages to ensure continuous power to a number of substations and taps. Additional challenges included coordinating with AMTRAK and local authorities to install conductors over an active railroad and multiple state highways.
