Founded in 1949 by the Cianchette Brothers, Cianbro is one of the United States’ largest, most diverse, successful, open shop, 100% employee-owned construction and construction services companies.
 

 
Presently operating in more than 40 states, 5 markets, and employing over 4,000 team members, Cianbro manages and self-performs civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, fabrication, and coating. 
 
Throughout our 69-year history, Cianbro has safely and efficiently planned, managed, and constructed many technically complex, historic, and environmentally sensitive projects for a wide variety of public and private clients. 
 
A total commitment to safety combined with the enthusiasm of an innovative team of construction professionals, has enabled Cianbro to build a durable reputation for completing projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. 
 
Ranked #92 on Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2018 The Top 400 Contractors, Cianbro is best known for managing major construction projects along with self-perform capabilities and hands-on construction techniques.

Carl Cianchette starts his construction operation. Carl E. Cianchette Contractor.

1951

The Cianchette Brothers, Inc. lands subcontract for Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. The brothers add three bulldozers, low-bed truck, power shovel, and 13 Ford trucks to the construction equipment inventory.

Invention of Chinbro Beam Clamp & Pipe Grab Chinbro Pipe Grab being used to lower pipe into trench.

1967

Cianchette Brothers, Inc. acquires E.C. Snodgrass, adds heavy industrial & marine capabilities.

1969

Cianchette Brothers, Inc. assembles 400ft crane at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine.  Crane considered largest in the Western Hemisphere.

Cianchette Brothers, Inc. becomes Cianbro.

Carl Cianchette merges asphalt & ready mix business with Cianbro Corporation.

Cianbro expands into Pulp & Paper Market with Lincoln Pulp & Paper.

Brothers Decides to Transfer Company Ownership to Employees.

Cianbro receives Congressional Record for completing Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Washington, D.C. 7.5 months ahead of schedule. Cianbro receives $1.42 Million bonus.

Cianbro develops Full-Body Construction Harness Adopts 100% Tie-Off.

Cianbro expands Fabrication & Coating capabilities in Pittsfield, Maine
