The Project Engineer works with the project team to provide technical support around quality controls, blueprint and contract compliance, scheduling, documentation, and engineering means and methods on site. They must also ensure the project is constructed in a safe, ethical manner and compliant with all federal, state, and local laws. 

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in proper project planning, value-added engineering means & methods, developing work packages and preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing the master schedule.
• Identify any state or local laws relating to environmental compliance and educate our team to ensure understanding and compliance with permit requirements.

• Identify, document, and estimate costs of extra work of unanticipated activities. Establish and maintain a project change order log.
• Coordinate the transmittal and subsequent approval of all submittals to the Owner/Engineer.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Requires a four-year degree in engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience in heavy infrastructure construction.

• Travel to job sites to assist in safely assembling and disassembling company-owned and rented cranes.
• Work with A/D director to learn assembly and disassembly of the different cranes we move and work towards an AD Director Certification.

• Advanced proficiency using industry specific construction estimating bid takeoff software such as Bluebeam Revu (specifically design, markup, quantity and cost estimate bid takeoff tools). Advanced proficiency (5+ years) using Procore Project Management, Sage 300 CRE, Sage Paperless Construction document storage software, DocuSign, and MS Office 365 (expert level Excel preferred) with efficiency and accuracy expected. Preferably experience using BIM workflows including 2D & 3D proposal presentation as well as 4D animations. Knowledge of Asana project management software is preferred, but not required. Adaptable to new computer software and technology.

Job Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety practices and procedures for both Cianbro and client as required, such as grounding, checking equipment regularly, proficient use of safety equipment, erecting barriers around work areas, and understanding and complying with tagging and grounding rules and being able to verify de-energized. • Assist in replacing damaged poles with new poles and straightening the poles. Erect poles and light or heavy duty transmission towers. Trim trees that could be hazardous to the functioning of cables or wires.
• Assist in pulling cable including double bundle conductor with wire pulling equipment and/or air support by hand from large reels mounted on trucks. Lay underground cable directly in trenches or string it through conduit running through the trenches. Cut trenches for laying underground cables, using trenchers and cable plows.
• Learn to safely install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conductors, cables, sagging, clipping, dead-end terminations, and associated appliances. Climb poles with Lineman's hooks and use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.
• Learn to open switches or attach grounding devices in order to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs. Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints. Identify defective sectionalizing devices, circuit breakers, fuses, voltage regulators, transformers, switches, relays, or wiring using and understanding prints, wiring diagrams, and electrical-testing instruments.
• Learn to inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment to locate and identify problems, using reading and testing instruments. Test conductors, according to electrical diagrams and specifications to identify corresponding conductors and to prevent incorrect connections.
• Understand basic electrical theory, distribution circuits, 3 Phase AC, interpret blueprints and 1-line drawings and effectively operate a transit. Assist in the training and direction of employees in lower classifications.
• Learn to safely operate various types of transmission and distribution equipment i.e., Digger/Derrick flex track, bucket trucks, wire puller/tensioner.

Are you interested in an opportunity to earn a paycheck while learning the fundamentals of a skilled trade? If you answered yes, Cianbro has a great opportunity where you can take your first step towards a career in construction!

Selected participants will begin their employment with a 4-week educational session within the trade of millwright work. Participants of the millwright apprenticeship will learn how to take proper measurements using: a tape measure, scales, steel rules, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators. Their focus will be on learning to work as a team, safe work practices, and developing the fundamental skills needed to assist with a specific trade.

In addition to the items above, all participants will learn how to take basic measurements, the proper use of hand and power tools, and equipment operation (aerial, scissor, and forklift).

Upon successful completion of the 4-week program, participants will receive a starter toolbox and a project assignment where they will apply their newly acquired skills while working alongside Cianbro’s craft professionals. Based on performance, these new team members will have the opportunity to receive periodic wage increases and endorsements into one of Cianbro’s formal, long-term apprenticeship programs. Once endorsed, team members will continue to earn a paycheck while they learn and progress towards achieving journey-level proficiency and journey-level wages.

The Project Engineer provides project management support around quality control, design and specification compliance, contract compliance, scheduling, document control, financial management, material management, subcontractor management, and means and methods to the project team on site.

Job Responsibilities 

• Assist in proper project planning, value-added means, and methods, developing work packages and preparing production indicators/benchmarks, and developing the master schedule.

• Advanced proficiency using Bluebeam Revu (specifically design, markup, quantity, and cost estimate bid takeoff tools). • Travel to job sites to assist in safely assembling and disassembling company-owned and rented cranes.
• Making mechanical repairs to cranes and crane components as needed.
• Driving a service vehicle to different work locations, and staying away from home on a regular basis.

The Schedule Engineer works with the project team to provide support for construction operations and schedule deliverables.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in project scheduling, working with the project schedule to support detailed short and long-term schedules.
• Make certain the project team understands how to prepare, develop, analyze, and progress the project schedule with input from the project team using Primavera P6.
• Assist project teams in prioritizing tasks (submittals, long lead materials, etc.) to meet contractual dates and other requirements.
• Track progress of the major Vendors and Subcontractors to ensure that materials are manufactured and delivered in a timely fashion as not to impact the project schedule.
• Prepare deliverables to communicate schedule to the client and stakeholders.
