Roth Rock Wind Project Concludes Successfully
Cianbro's largest wind project to date began in the fall of 2010, in the colorful foliage of western Maryland's mountains. Before the project would be completed, Cianbro crews would experience first-hand why the highlands near Oakland, Maryland were chosen by the client for a wind farm. Gusts approaching 70 miles per hour were just part of the challenge that team members faced as they erected 20 turbines over a three and a half mile ridge. Wintery temperatures, deep snow and persistent ice also became part of the job. But Cianbro's "can do" determination paid off as the team muscled forward to a successful completion this month. Project Manager Brian Larsen sums up the job.
